Cathedral´s Parson Anime-Behavior extended over second and third day

At Sunday 16th May was observed and documented an unusual bird individual behavior that started at 7:00 a.m. The spontanic registration is extended now over the following day.

The bullfinch´s behavior consisted in repeated short flights from a wild-rose-bush-branch towards a window over a distance of about 25 cms and beak-throbbing against a window screen.

When opened the window the bird remained throbbing exactly the same window glass sectors but didn´t enter into the room. Also a "sitting in front of the glass and dancing with his mirror image"-behavior was observed and interpreted as erroneous mating-ceremony. Bullfinch females are grey-black coloured meanwhile males are strongly visible red. In a normal mating behaviour the bird would have recognized the colour difference. The behaviour was described so with a humanizing term as "Narcism".

Remarkable furthermore is, that the photographer can approach to the bird sitting at the window from behind the screen until distance is nearly zero, even if the bird registeres the movement inside the room. Approaching from the side when window is open without glass barreer is not possible at a distance lower than 1.5 meters. Then the bird reacts with escape reaction.

The uncommon bird behavior lasted until 21:00 p.m. also during a time period, when inside the room light was switched on and the window-glas-mirror effect due to the room illumination must have been reduced. At Monday 5:30 a.m. the bird that rested over night darkness returned to the same branch and window screen corners. It´s throbbing last now until noon.

At the same window of the CID Institute a similar single bird behaviour was observed and registered about 4-5 years ago. The glass-throbbing bird was then an Aegithalos caudatus.

About 2013 during winter month and snowfall a similar single bird behaviour of a blue-tit was registered at the terrace window of the CID Institutes guest-room. The bird also repeatedly sprang inside the snow with extended wings an produced by that way body shilouette imprints inside the snow.

Also in it´s second day of appearance, the uncommon bird behavior lasted until 9:00 p.m. and started the third day again about 5:30 a.m.

Between 9:00 a.m. and 13:00 p.m. the window was closed experimentally with an outside curtain to see if this interruption at it´s phenomenon site would drive away the bird and stop his behaviour. After lifting the curtain 4 hours later the bird returned inmediately and started again with it´s short flights against the upper right glass screen corner.

The literature mentions similar or same behaviour patterns as "Kamikaze"- or "Mirror-Fencer"-behaviour, in english "Shadow-Boxing". Finches that fly repeatedly and monotous during hours and days always against the same window screen are understood as attacking there their own mirror image. Erroneously they register their mirror as enemy or competitant in it´s nesting or breeding area and attack them.

EARLIER REGISTRATIONS

In 2016 at the same window a rather similar behaviour of an Tail Tit (Aegithalos caudatus) was observed and registered during less one week from 5th until 9th of March. During the first days the bird started from different branches of the rose bush to fly against different window sectors so as if it would search a passage inside the mirror screen landscape for nesting purposes. Later it rammed continuously the window screen only in the same sector as the bullfinch´s behaviour is recorded in May 2021.

3 years earlier, in March 2013, at a different window of CID Institute´s Guest Room a similar "flying to and knocking at window screen"-behaviour was registered during the days 3rd until 14th March. That time the bird was a Blue Tit (Parus  caeruleus). The Blue Tit´s flight mostly started from a window-near branch of an Rhus typhina bush where it also returned to after knocking at the window screen.

After snowfall and several days snow cover persistence on the terrace in front of the window, bird´s body imprints with extended wing shilouettes have been found on the ground. It is rather probable that the same bird after "attacking" the bird´s own mirror in the window screen started to spring inside the deep snow like dancing.

Cathedral´s Parson Anime Sunday Morning Seven to Nine 16th May

It is Sunday, 16th May. It started about seven in the morning and lasts now since 2 hours and 20 minutes. The Catholic Churchbells ring at 9 in the morning but didn´t interfere in her activity. Her common german name is CATHEDRAL´S PARSON. Her further common names are BULLFINCH or NINNY. She´s coloured black-white-red same as former german royal national flag, but most outstanding and remarkable are the blood-red feathers that cover her whole chest-side. Why they call her Cathedral´s Parson is difficult to understand on first sight. Probably the name refers to traditional catholic eclestical vesture colour combinations similar as the birds colours. But the traditional weared PILEOLUS and MITRA are head covers meanwhile the bird has no red feathers on his head. Also the catalán BARRETINA and the JACOBINE HAT show similar colouring patterns. More exact might be the name source as depiction for the red TALAR, GOWN, ROBE or CASSOCK.

Pyrrhula pyrrhula is the most intense red coloured bird in Germany.  In this characteristic it can be compared with the similar coloured species from CARDINALIDAE Family from South and North America. That might explain also his german vernacular name.

The black-white-red-flag bird, coming from the neighbourhoods offcut-place, trying to enter throught my office window screen since 7 a.m. until now 9.55.

The bird´s intents to cross through my window

In my family the DOMPFAFF has it´s own singular significance. The reason for that is rooted in family history from the 1950ies and into the time, when my father and my mother became a couple and married what ocurred during 1955-1957.

During that time, I haven´t been born yet, they sat on the terrace of my grandmother´s house at Emmershäuser Hütte, when the black-black cat PURZEL suddenly appeared with a Dompfaff between her teeth. My father must have treid to rescue it from her mouth, but I do not remember with which success. But something, maybe the religious symbolism of the bird´s name, drove him to extreme fury, so that he run for his pistol gun with the intention to shoot Purzel. But when he aimed at the cat she looked so cute with her black eyes at him that he was unable to fulfill his plan, and also the intense begging of my grandma lowered his rage. So Purzel survived the event but the Dompfaff´s destiny is here unknown.

BLOOD-FINCH is another german vernacular name for this bird. This is also coincident to the spanish vernacular name SANGUINEO that is used in certain Colombian regions for the Cardinalidae bird species. It probably is also the most profund etymological respectively mythological explaination for the birds name so the colour red in nature mostly is associated as symbolism for blood.

Pyrrhula pyrrhula in art has been portraited on several famous paintings related to religious depictions of paradise gardens. The painter Jan Brueghel used him also for the illustration of the animal species entering Noah´s Ark short before the great flood.

Besides it´s religious and blood symbolism associations the bird in Germany also is related to the properties of naivety, greenness, gullibility and stupidity. These depictions are explained by the easy way of trapping birds of this species, imitating their own soft contact-call.

The provenience of the word GIMPEL is interpreted as variation of the bavarian slang word GUMPEN what might be translated as jumping or bouncing and could be a reason for characterizing this bird species for his foolishness or gaucherie.

It´s now 10.56 a.m. and the bird´s knocking at my window lasts since 4 hours yet. PARSON. That reminds me to Alan Parsons Proyects song THE RAVEN, but the raven in that song knocked the door only when the clock struck midnight.

So, ANIME mysteries go on to exist so also after Corona might have brushed away the anthrops from earth. I understand Anime here as term for human - animal soul relationships, communications, messaging, interactions and exchanges.
